The ongoing transformation of the former Kingston Parish Rectory on Mathews Main Street into workforce housing has hit a couple of bumps, but work is still moving along. Bill Stearns, a member of the committee overseeing renovations, took a walk through the circa 1894 structure in late March, pointing out that support joists had gotten so rotten in the downstairs kitchen floor and an upstairs bathroom that they had to be completely removed. A lot of work went into demolishing the interior plaster walls and the completely rotten flat roof that was over a large downstairs bathroom/hallway, after which workers reframed parts of the structure and created a new shed roof to replace the flat one. This space will be turned into an accessible bathroom, utility room, hallway, and walk-in closet for the bedroom.
