Wittman addresses U.S. energy needs at Phillips Energy

The United States is fortunate to have “an energy envelope” that includes a number of sources to fill the country’s power needs, Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Montross) said during a visit to Gloucester Point Thursday.

Speaking with the owners of Phillips Energy on Route 17, which is celebrating its 70th year in business, Wittman discussed various energy issues with them as well as addressing a number of other topics. The meeting was part of a weeklong tour throughout the First Congressional District which also included stops Thursday at Bavon Beach in Mathews to see a shoreline stabilization project and at Mobjack Bay Seafood in Ware Neck to learn about the aquaculture industry.

Several energy options look good for the long term, including propane, one of the many regular and alternative fuels that Phillips Energy sells. Wittman said that it is easy to convert current motor vehicles to propane.
