It was a week of extreme highs and lows for Gloucester baseball, as the Dukes recovered from an 11-0 shellacking at the hands of Menchville last Thursday with back-to-back poundings of the West Point Pointers and Phoebus Phantoms.

Last Thursday’s game offered few moments of cheer for Dukes Nation, as the Monarchs took an early lead and never looked back. It appeared that this rivalry game would boil over immediately when a Menchville player flopped to the ground following being tagged out on his way to first in the opening inning.

The Monarch player attempted to confront Dukes infielders, even shoving Gloucester first baseman Charlie Poulson, who ignored the player while officials stepped in. Despite putting hands on another player, the Monarch was allowed to remain in the contest, and this set the tone for the remainder of the game.
