WILLIAM DAVID WILLIAMS

William David Williams, 63, of Gloucester, passed away Tuesday evening, September 6, 2016.

He was a graduate of Gloucester High School, and retired from Verizon Telephone Company.

David worked hard but he also enjoyed life. He loved to go deep sea fishing and especially enjoyed deer hunting. David was a man who didn’t have a mean bone in his body, a warm friendly man who made his mark in the world not with grand gestures or fancy titles, but by the basic goodness and generosity of his character, by the quality of his involvement with his fellow man, and how he brought out these qualities in others. There were many wonderful aspects to David’s life, and many ways that he touched our lives.

He will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle, a great friend, and outdoorsman. He made our lives richer and fuller. Now that he has passed away, of course there is emptiness and pain, at death coming to a man of only 63 years, but in many ways, the gift of David’s life is still here with us. He lives on in our memories and stories, and in what all of us have become because of him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Terry Saulman Williams; his father, Roland Williams,  and mother, Josie Gertrude Williams.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly D. Green and husband Chris; grandson, Isaac Green; sister, Nancy Williams Jenkins; brother, Fred “Brother Fred” Williams and wife Barbara; and nephews, Jerry Dale Williams and Ronnie Jenkins, and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Bill West was held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2016, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment followed in Bellamy Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

In David’s memory, the family desires contributions be given to the Susan G. Komen Foundation Breast Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 224523, Dallas, Texas 75222-4523.
