White Trust awards $66,000+ in 25th year

More than $66,000 in grants was awarded to projects in Mathews County Public Schools this spring by the White-Hudgins Charitable Trust, the 25th year that this funding source has been available to pay for some of the items not covered by the division’s operating budget.

Over the span of the past 25 years, the White Trust has provided grants totaling $1,152,822, according to Roz White, who established the fund with her late husband, Jeff. This year, $66,410 was awarded in the areas of professional development, tuition assistance, student field trips, instructional programs and student clubs/projects.

The most recent round of White Trust recipients was announced during the Mathews County School Board’s May 17 meeting, which was held in the Mathews High School media center.
