Wharf to Wharf Swim

Mathews Outdoor Club, in collaboration with Mathews Land Conservancy, had a record of 45 participants compete in its annual Wharf to Wharf Swim, a one-mile open water race, on Saturday at Williams Wharf. Competitors could compete in two categories, with swim aids and without. The day was marked by nice weather and calm waters. The top three finishers were, from left, Annabella Carter, 11, of Charlotte, North Carolina, in second (22:44.7), Jessica Williamson, 26, of Midlothian, in first (20:13.1) and Chase Miller, 15, of King George in third (20:41.8). The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 66, Virginia Marine Police and a crew of volunteer kayakers were on site to provide safety support. Full event results can be found online at mocva.net/w2w.
