Wetlands board approves three shoreline improvement projects

The Gloucester County Wetlands Board approved three shoreline improvement applications during a meeting June 10 in the colonial courthouse.

Benjamin Seward applied to install approximately 420 linear feet of backshore rock revetment and two 50-foot spur breakwaters. In addition, environmental programs coordinator Linda Walthall said that the board gave its okay for Seward to install 400 cubic yards of sand nourishment and spartina plantings.

Seward’s property is situated along Wilson Creek at 5674 White Hall Road. Walthall said the project was approved, with rationale of approval the replacement of bulkhead with revetment.

Following a separate public hearing, the board approved the application of Jeff Mershon. Mershon sought authorization to construct 36 linear feet of vinyl bulkhead and 66 linear feet of riprap revetment adjacent to property situated along Oyster Cove at 8317 Little England Road.
