West, Harger win most recent Big Bash Tournament

Brian West and Steve Harger took first place in the fourth outing in the Big Bash Bass Tournament series on Saturday at Beaverdam Park. The pair brought in 16 pounds, 14 ounces of bass. 

Al Bowles and Russell Holmes were second with 16 pounds, 12 ounces, Quillie and Robert Countiss were third with 14 pounds, 14 ounces, Chris and Brian Eckstein were fourth, and Bubba West and Matt Marshall were fifth. Bowles weighed in the big fish of the day at five pounds, eight ounces.  The temperature in the center of the lake was at 83 degrees last week, according to senior park ranger Michelle Maynora-Hostinsky. She said crappie are most active in the early morning and the bass are hitting top water until around 9:30 a.m., before moving into the shadows of the trees. The bass become active again around 4 p.m. Bream and yellow perch are active all day while catfish remain elusive....
