Weather woes plague area farmers

Weather has plagued some crops being harvested in local fields, Extension Agent David Moore said Friday.

For example, the pumpkin crop was affected by either too much rain, or lack of rain, depending on where the field was located, Moore said. Overall, the pumpkin crop was pretty good this year, he added.

Soybeans are not doing quite as well as expected, Moore said, as their growth “caught the tail end of some dry weather.” Soybeans were below average to average through area fields, he said. ...
