Lowe’s lends a hand

Lowe’s Home Improvement of Gloucester showed up in force on Oct. 29 and 30 to complete a much-needed community project at the Mathews Family YMCA’s Digges Field on Cricket Hill Road in Mathews. The company provided all the materials and the employees volunteered their time to rebuild the bridge that provides access to the sports field, then built 10 new player benches and painted the existing goals. The project will “benefit our young athletes, families and the community for years to come,” said a press release from Mathews Family YMCA director Sarah Rae.
