Ware River Circle officers

The Ware River Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons held the induction of its 2024 officers on May 7 at Grace on Main, Gloucester. Shown here are, from left, outgoing WRCKDS president Jane Smith, incoming president Pam Driggs, corresponding secretary Leslie Belvin, vice president Virginia Evans, recording secretary Harriet Crockett, and treasurer Debra Goodier. The Gloucester circle was organized in 1896, just a decade after the original 10 founders organized the first circle in New York. The group’s purpose is three-fold: educational, philanthropic, and religious, reaching out in numerous ways to individuals and families in need. Members of The King’s Daughters and Sons circles, of which there are four in the local area, have provided leadership, fundraising and volunteer services, assuring their long-held commitment to children’s health care in the region, a release stated. The organization has expanded to become the premier women’s service (which now includes men), and philanthropic organization in Hampton Roads with continued ties to the region’s chief provider of pediatric care, Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters.
