Ware Academy adds 6 new staff members

Ware Academy has added six new staff members and welcomed 34 new children for the 2017-2018 academic year. The private, co-educational school now serves 135 students.

Meghan Cunningham is greeting Ware families each day as the administrative assistant in the main office. She worked in the medical field before joining Ware.

Rebecca Mattox joined the staff in the pre-kindergarten 3-year-olds class. She holds an associate’s degree in early childhood development from Tidewater Community College and a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies NK-4 with a minor in mathematics from Norfolk State University. 

Mattox taught in Middlesex before raising her four children and has been a volunteer at Ware for years.

Joining her in the classroom is Rachel Wood, who earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Virginia Commonwealth University. Wood has more than 10 years’ experience teaching in a home-school consortium and worked at Mathews Memorial Librar...
