David Walsh, 57, of Bohannon, has announced his candidacy for a seat on the Mathews County Board of Supervisors. He is running as an independent.
A Mathews native and Mathews High School graduate, Walsh said he returned to the county two years ago after serving in the U.S. Air Force and living much of his adult life in other places. All the while he was in far-off places, he said he was keeping up with what was going on in his hometown, and he has seen a lot of things that need to be fixed.
“My goal is to eventually do something good,” he said.
Among the issues Walsh would like to help solve are the Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill problem, for which he wants to see all of the parties involved “sit down together in a room and hash it out.” Rather than going to court over the matter, he would like to see them work with a mediator to find a solution, he said, preferably “in the public eye” for the purpose of transparency.
