The Virginia Marine Resources Commission, at its meeting Tuesday, closed the season for speckled trout from April 1 through June 30.
VMRC said it shut down the fishery for the popular species “in response to multiple years of cold-stun related mortality and is intended to protect the remaining spawning stock through the bulk of the 2026 spawning season.”...
