Virginia Symphony Orchestra to play Aug. 30 in Yorktown

The Yorktown waterfront will be alive with the sound of music on Saturday, Aug. 30, when the Virginia Symphony Orchestra returns.
The 27th annual outdoor concert begins at 7:30 p.m. under the direction of conductor Chia-Hsuan Lin. Visitors are encouraged to pack a cooler, bring lawn chairs or blankets, and arrive early for this night of music under the stars.
The Fifes and Drums of York Town will take the stage at 6 p.m. for a patriotic performance, and blue ribbons will be awarded to the most creative picnic arrangements prior to the event. In the event of inclement weather, the show will be moved to Wednesday, Sept. 3.
This year’s performance theme is “Stars & Stripes & Symphonies,” honoring the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
