A service of celebration for Virginia Clara Heywood, 79, of Gloucester, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. She died Jan. 18, 2012.

Mrs. Heywood was a member of Providence Baptist Church. For a number of years she worked at several hair salons in Gloucester.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Heywood Sr., and son, Robert A. Heywood Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Romero and Paula James; son, William Mitchell Heywood; sisters, Elsie Bowie and Patsy Waters; a brother, Johnnie Lynch; six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

The service was conducted by the Rev. W. Donald Ambrose. Inurnment will be private.
