Village Apothecary opens in Mathews C.H.

Village Apothecary opened in early November on Church Street in Mathews Court House, adjacent to Southwind Café.

“I want to educate the public about healthy choices,” owner Robin Wigton of Mathews said. She became interested in a more healthful way of living a number of years ago when she began using some essential oils in treating a medical condition.

Village Apothecary is Wigton’s first time selling essential oils, organic spices, Himalayan salt products, herbal teas and magnetic jewelry, which she said is helpful for treating arthritis. Shelves are filled with mulling spices, creative dip mixes and teapot kits that include special teas. Other boxed sets are sold for holiday gifts. A big seller during the first few days of business have been Himalayan salt products, some of which are warmed and help with breathing, she said, and others are shot glasses made of a material which gives a salty kick to your margarita.
