Heart Felt Touch Massage Therapy, LLC, in Gloucester Court House recently added two new practitioners and a variety of new services for its existing and new clients.
Ginger Platsis, certified massage therapist and owner of the business, said certified massage therapist Layla Javier has joined Heart Felt Touch along with licensed master esthetician Annette Greene.
Javier comes from the Williamsburg Salt Spa and has eight years of experience in massage. She regularly uses hot bamboo and hot salt rocks in her massage. She also specializes in therapeutic massage, Platsis said.
Meanwhile, Greene specializes in facials and skincare, full-body waxing, micro-dermabrasion and chemical peels.
The two join Platsis and Alice Hares, a certified massage therapist that specializes in caring for those with cancer and going through chemotherapy. She is also training to provide sound therapy to clients.
In other news, Platsis is working toward certification as a trauma release practitioner and will begin a mentorship program in that field.
Though she will continue to provide massage services for her existing clients, she is going to focus much of her time on this new specialty, which teaches the client a series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma.
According to Platsis, after one faces a traumatic event, including anger or anxiety, the body activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating to release muscular tension and calm the nervous system. She will teach clients how to activate this in a safe and controlled environment that will encourage the body to return to a state of balance.
“It’s basically a self-regulating tool for clients to learn to do themselves,” she said. “It’s phenomenal—very fascinating.”
Platsis started Heart Felt Touch in the DeHardit House in 2014. The business now operates in its own space located on York Avenue. Each of the practitioners can be booked by appointment.
Other services offered at Heart Felt Touch include compassionate touch, prenatal massage, couples massage and corporate massage sessions. She said various discounts and special offers are available, including 10 percent off when purchasing six or more sessions.
