Tuesday is the deadline to register for the upcoming Tidewater Soil and Water Conservation District Spring into Conservation informational breakfast.
The breakfast will be held on Tuesday, March 4, beginning at 9 a.m. at Nick’s Spaghetti & Steak House, Shacklefords.
The district administers the Virginia Agricultural Best Management Cost Share Program (VACS) and the Whole Farm Approach Program (WFA) for agricultural producers in Gloucester, Mathews and Middlesex counties.
The goal of both VACS and WFA is to improve water quality in the state’s streams, rivers and Chesapeake Bay. VACS and WFA offer cost share assistance as an incentive to construct or implement Best Management Practices.
In addition to learning about Tidewater SWCD programs, participants will hear from Derrick Gooden with Virginia State University Small Farm Outreach Program, Robert Harper with Virginia Farm Bureau Grain Market Division, Hunter Quinones with Virginia Department of Conservation & Recreation-Nutrient Management Plans, Robyn Woolsey with Colonial SWCD-VCAP Living Shorelines, and partner agency reports.
Anyone interested in learning about these opportunities is invited to attend. RSVP by calling 804-699-3482 or emailing dbillings@tidewaterswcd.org.
