The Toys for Tots program is well underway, with collection boxes set up in business, schools and other locations throughout the Middle Peninsula, according to local coordinator Jodey Clements of Detachment #1317 of the Marine Corps League.

Tuesday, Nov. 30 is the deadline to apply for toys under the program. Parents can visit https://gloucester-va.toysfortots.org, click on the link for “Apply for Toys” and fill out the application.

You will receive an email once you apply. Applications will be vetted and, if you are approved, you will receive a phone call sometime between Dec. 1-5. Monday, Dec. 13 is the distribution date.

The website also includes a link for those who wish to make a cash donation for the local program. For those who want to drop off a new toy, there are over 60 collection boxes set up in Gloucester, Mathews and Middlesex, including 7-Eleven and Dollar General stores, schools in the three counties, and numerous other sites.
