The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an emergency motion that would change county code to allow placement of travel trailers on properties of homes destroyed by the recent storm without the owner’s having to obtain a building permit.

"In emergencies rendering residences uninhabitable, travel trailers, recreational vehicles and other temporary housing may be utilized by the affected residents for a period of six months without obtaining a building permit for reconstruction of damaged residences," the resolution states.

The discussion came about at the end of Tuesday night’s meeting in the colonial courthouse after York district supervisor Carter Borden said a resident contacted him who happens to be an insurance adjuster, saying a number of clients had called voicing this concern.
