Theresa Ann “Terry” Horsley, 69, of Gloucester, lost her courageous fight against multiple myeloma and died peacefully at her residence on Sept. 7, 2013.
Born to the late Albert Peter and Marguerite Marie Nettles McVaugh on Nov. 13, 1943, she grew up in Hampton. She retired from Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, after 20 years of civil service.
Terry was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was married first to John F. Bozza Sr., with whom she had two sons, John F. Bozza Jr. and Anthony J. Bozza. Later in life, she married Gene Horsley of Gloucester who preceded her in death in 2006.
After retirement, Terry enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and was always so proud of her beautiful flowers and tomatoes. Terry also loved butterflies and enjoyed collecting butterfly items through the years.
Terry had a special love for animals and rescued and cared for many homeless cats in her neighborhood. Later, as her health declined and she was restricted more to her home, she enjoyed watching old movies on television with her caregivers.
In addition to her children, she also leaves to cherish her memory, a sister and brother-in-law, Kay and David Sluger; a devoted brother, Michael A. McVaugh; a sister-in-law, Regina Holloway-McVaugh, and her three grandchildren.
A Celebration of Terry’s Life will be held Thursday, 6 p.m., at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson by Father James Cowles.
The family would like to thank Terry’s neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Graham, for their many acts of kindness throughout her illness, and Dr. John Gretes and staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center. They would also like to express a very special thank you to Terry’s caregivers from Hope In Home, especially Ms. Carol Sullivan, who saw to her every need and health concern during her extended illness.
