The Nook taken over by new owners

Julie and Mark Garrenton took over Gloucester Main Street bookstore and gift shop The Nook last month from original owners Danielle and Aaron Hilton. “I have always wanted to own a bookstore,” said Julie. “I’m a huge reader.” The Garrentons moved to Gloucester nine months ago to be closer to family. “It’s very centralized to our adult children,” said Mark. “We were very isolated.” When the couple first arrived to Gloucester, Julie was determined to open a bookstore if none existed in their new community. Then the couple discovered The Nook and became regular customers. “I’ve been a reader my whole life,” said Julie who used to be a reading teacher. “I’ve always loved books.” Through last year, Julie kept telling Danielle that she would love to buy the bookstore if she was ever looking to sell.
