Sweet Madeleine’s reopens at York River Crossing

After a two-year break from the restaurant business to attend to family matters, Angela Harder of Hayes recently returned to the Gloucester dining scene.

Her new Sweet Madeleine’s, a café and catering business, opened Sept. 10 in the Shops at York River, located near the movie theater at York River Crossing Shopping Center, Hayes. On Saturday nights, she offers a dinner promotion where you also get movie tickets.

Harder seats about 60 diners inside her new restaurant. Another dozen or so can sit outside on a covered patio as weather permits.

She offers lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday and a Sunday brunch. She employs a staff of 15 (four full-time and 11 part-time workers), including head baker Stacie Hopkins of Hayes. Harder’s daughter, Rachel, works there part-time.
