The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to dissolve the county’s advisory board on housing during a meeting March 7 in the colonial courthouse.

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors discussed the future of the housing board during a work session Feb. 21 and several board members expressed concern over completely dissolving the board, which formerly served as a fiscal agent for the Section 8 voucher program administered through the federal government for the region. That program has now been transferred to Bay Aging and the housing department in Gloucester was eliminated.

Gloucester County administrator Brenda Garton said that there was just no funding to support the advisory board or any initiatives it may come up with.
