Members of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will be able to sit down with planning commissioners Tuesday night to discuss more in-depth proposed changes to Gloucester’s sign ordinance. The joint meeting will begin at 7 o’clock in the colonial courthouse.
The proposed changes are many, but some of the highlights include allowing temporary signs for businesses in certain districts, while not allowing off-premises signs for businesses.
The Gloucester County Planning Commission recommended that temporary signs be allowed in the B-1 (general business), B-3 (office business) and B-4 (rural business) districts. Included in the recommendation is that the signs be placed for a maximum of 30 days at a time, for a total of 120 days a year.
The commission also recommended that one on-premises and one free-standing sign be allowed for each business, with minimum setback reduced to 10 feet from the right-of-way if consistent with height for a monument sign.
