The Gloucester Board of Supervisors has indicated its support for progress being made with an update to the county’s Comprehensive Plan.

The supervisors held a work session with the Gloucester Planning Commission for almost two hours on May 22. Following a short break at the Gloucester Library Community Room, the board reconvened its regular meeting and met for another hour with the commission.

Supervisors seemed to like much of the comp plan progress to date. Planning staff said that the plan was last substantially revised in 1991, with a Gloucester Point plan and a Chesapeake Bay ordinance added recently, and the most recent plan of revisions being tackled for several years by a citizens’ committee before the commission began reviewing it chapter by chapter about a year ago.

The chapters include natural resources, economic development, transportation, cultural and historic resources, and future land use.
