Supervisors grant approval for Patriots Grill expansion

The Gloucester Board of Supervisors, meeting on Feb. 2 in the colonial courthouse, unanimously approved a rezoning application that will allow expansion of Patriots Grill restaurant on Main Street.

Zoning was changed from Village Business Conditional (B-2) to Village Business (B-2). The rezoning will allow restaurant owner Patrick O’Carroll to enclose his deck to provide more seating. Also, the change will allow him the flexibility to use other parts of the approximately 1.8-acre site for other business uses.

Anne Ducey-Ortiz, director of planning and zoning, said that county staff finds the B-2 zoning consistent with the comprehensive plan’s desire for commercial uses associated with higher residential development within the Court House area. The application is also consistent with the Gloucester Court House Village Sub-Area Plan’s recommendation for this area of Main Street to remain auto-oriented with commercial uses.
