Supervisors get overview of administrator search process

Mathews County supervisors received an overview earlier this month of the process that will be used to find a new county administrator.

The county board also gave representatives of the Berkley Group, LLC, the company appointed to conduct the search for the position, their ideas of what they’d like to see in a new administrator.

Kimball Payne, executive manager of the Berkley Group, spoke during a special board meeting which was held on Wednesday, Aug. 4, in the Harry M. Ward Auditorium at Mathews High School, giving the board a timeline that included having a recruitment profile ready by Aug. 20 and advertising for the position beginning shortly afterward.

From there, they expect to set a cutoff for applications in late September, conduct interviews with the top 10 or 12 candidates and submit them for the board’s consideration by October, and have the board interview their top four or five candidates in November.
