Gloucester’s Carriage Court will be abuzz with activity on Wednesday nights during June, July and August with the Summer Nights Market promotion.

Sponsored by the Gloucester Main Street Association, the promotion will be sort of an enhanced farmers’ market, said Ashley Gilmartin, the association’s executive director. The market will be open from 4:30-7:30 on Wednesday nights, she said, adding that it will be held rain or shine.

Gilmartin said she expects about six vendors to participate most weeks, with more joining later in the season as more local crops are harvested.

Besides vendors selling fresh produce, herbs, meats and other products, Gilmartin said she looks for some crafters to sell their wares.

Each Wednesday, a special theme or promotion will be used, and live entertainment is planned for most markets. The South Hampton Roads musical act American Lovebirds will perform Wednesday.
