Stewart Gallery to open Saturday in Gloucester

A grand opening celebration will be held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at Stewart Gallery on Main Street, Gloucester Court House.

Owner Theresa Stewart Hupp said the day will feature a ribbon cutting, refreshments and door prizes as she throws open the doors of her new business to the public.

Hupp previously owned an art gallery under the same name in the Fan District of Richmond, but decided to close her business there and to locate a gallery closer to her Gloucester residence.

Stewart Gallery features paintings (oils and acrylics), pottery, sculpture, jewelry, and stained and fused glass. Hupp sells mostly original works of art as well as some prints. Many pieces are shown by consignment. The gallery will hold some First Friday events, Hupp said, and offer special art talks. “This is not a studio,” she said.

Hupp paints with watercolors and creates some pottery, having sold some of her works. She has taken classes at several art venues in Richmond.
