State officials tour Bay School Community Arts Center

Representatives from the business investment division of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership visited the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews on Aug. 28. The visit was part of an all-day tour of venues on the Middle Peninsula.

The Bay School showcased its “unique position as the heart of the Middle Peninsula’s artisan network” by having the guests create their own art to take home “as a reminder of this cultural gem,” according to Liz Povar, principal officer of the Middle Peninsula Alliance.

VEDP team members also received a tour of Mathews County’s newest lodging venue, the Callis House Inn.

Mathews Economic Development Authority board member Hal Bourque, Mathews County Visitor and Information Center Director Emily Allen, and Bay School Executive Director Pam Doss hosted the visit in Mathews, said the release from Povar.
