Spring is here, but snow is near: VDOT crews prepare for another dust up

A rare back-to-back March snow event has Virginia Department of Transportation crews preparing to respond to accumulations of approximately one-to-three inches of snow in parts of the district, beginning as early as Wednesday morning in the New Kent County area, according to a VDOT news release.

Southside and peninsula regions are expected to pick up light accumulations starting around noon and continuing throughout the day, including through the afternoon rush hour.

Beginning at midnight, VDOT crews will be on standby to respond to the district’s western tip of I-64 where a light layering is forecast by daybreak.

The Eastern Shore may also see accumulations of one-to-three inches with wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour. Minor to moderate tidal flooding along the coast and bayfront regions will be a concern for the next three tide cycles on the Eastern Shore.
