The GHS cross country team faced its toughest Peninsula District competition of the season on Sept. 28 when the Gloucester harriers took on Kecoughtan at Gosnold’s Hope Park in Hampton.
The Gloucester boys won their meet, 22-35, led by overall winner Kevin Speray in 16:53. He was followed by teammates Tyler Price in third place at 17:10, Logan Pitchford in fifth place in 17:14, Cameron Cross in sixth place in 17:23, Blake Waters in seventh place in 17:46, Adrian Garcia in ninth place in 18:30 and Dylan Wyco in 11th place in 19:04.
Freshman Anna Robins won the race for the Lady Dukes in 20:51 but the Gloucester girls were edged out by the Warriors, 31-24. Robins was followed by Carrie Adams in 22:30, Megan Hogge in 23:05, Ashley Purrington in 23:06 and Leah Procopi in 23:16, who finished sixth through ninth, respectively.
