Special meeting today to address early voting in Mathews

The Mathews Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 26, for two purposes, including the consideration of a resolution asking the county’s voter registrar to delay early voting for the upcoming April 21 statewide special election on redistricting. The other reason for today’s meeting, which will be held in the historic courthouse, will be to receive an update from the county’s fire department, sheriff and emergency radio system committee about some significant challenges in the new radio system that need to be addressed. Early voting The board will consider adopting a resolution asking the voter registrar to wait until April 16 to begin early voting in the April 21 special election on the referendum proposed by the Virginia General Assembly.
