Small business workshop offered next month in Saluda

A free business education workshop will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Saluda Professional Building, 125 Bowden Street in Saluda.

The workshop will be targeted for small businesses, said Lewis Lawrence, executive director of the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission. MPPDC is sponsoring the program with West Point-based C&F Bank and SCORE, the world’s largest network of free, expert business mentors.

The program, Lawrence said, will help those planning to start a new business or needing help managing a business.

Led by SCORE volunteers, who are retired corporate executives, the workshop will provide information about business plans, options for a legal structure of the business, financing, and defining your target customer. “Don’t fall into the trap of ‘Build it and they will come,’ because they won’t,” a release said of waiting for customers to find your goods and services.
