The Silver Box is celebrating 20 years in business this week. Martha Soles started the business—which sells a selection of jewelry, gifts and apparel—in 2001, originally operating out of her home until the store opened at its first Gloucester Main Street location in 2004.

Relocating in 2007 a couple of doors down on Main Street, the Silver Box has been at its current location for 14 years.When looking back on the last 20 years, Soles describes it as exciting. She said some of the last two decades has been a roller coaster but most of it has been great. Twenty years is not an easy accomplishment and it takes a community’s support to reach that milestone, she said.

“It’s extremely gratifying,” said Soles when asked how it felt to be one of the lasting businesses on Main Street. She’s glad to have been able to provide her services while also forming lifelong friendships with those she’s met, both customers and employees alike.
