Shirley Anne Faison, 92, of Gwynn’s Island, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, June 8, 2019, with her four children present.

Born Shirley Anne Couch to Fred and Isabel Couch in Norfolk, Sept. 11, 1926, she later moved to Petersburg with her parents and sister Doris. There she met and married Edward Faison and raised her children while traveling as an Air Force wife—finally settling back in Petersburg after Dad retired as a Lt. Colonel with 21 years of service.

 Following his passing in 1984, she built a house on Gwynn’s Island to be near her sister and brother-in-law, Oscar Inge, and spent 30 years enjoying the waterside life, frequent family visits and wonderful neighbors.  She could not have found a better place to retire and entertain a growing family.

She leaves behind four children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

We miss her greatly and wish God’s blessing on the next part of her journey.
