Mathews Sheriff April Edwards recently earned official certification from the Virginia Sheriff’s Institute after completing a program through Virginia Commonwealth University’s L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs. The certification is based on a comprehensive evaluation, including public safety service, education, career development, and ongoing professional training, said a release from Edwards’ colleagues at the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office. “This milestone reflects her strong leadership, tireless work ethic, and lifelong devotion to law enforcement and community safety,” said the release. “It is a huge accomplishment and a source of pride for our entire community.”
