The Gloucester School Board appointed Samantha Williams of Gloucester as the school nurse at Achilles Elementary during its April 30 work session. The appointment is effective for the 2020-2021 school year.

In re-assignments for the 2020-2021 school year, Bethel Elementary counselor Elizabeth Murphy will move to Botetourt Elementary and Abingdon Elementary art teacher Meghan Davis will teach art at Bethel.

The board approved retirement for Gloucester High School special education teacher Helen Anyadike, Peasley Middle School health and physical education teacher Henry Holmes and support services employee Stephen Parker, all effective July 1. Retirement was also approved for support services employee Michele Durst, effective Sept. 1.

In addition, a resignation was accepted from school division speech pathologist Nancy Allred, effective at the end of the school year.

The board approved the personnel actions by a 6-1 vote, with board member Troy Andersen voting against it.
