Cutter Dunn of Hayes, a senior architecture major at Virginia Tech, was part of an interdisciplinary group of students from Tech’s School of Architecture that produced comprehensive design concepts for a multimodal transportation center for Roanoke featuring an Amtrak passenger rail station. Two design concepts for each of two proposed sites in the city were scheduled to be unveiled yesterday at the Roanoke Higher Education Center. The designs were aimed at creating a centralized hub of rail, city buses, long-distance buses, Smart Way buses, taxis, automobiles, bicycles and pedestrians. The project is part of a 10-week course attended by students ranging from sophomores to those seeking master’s degrees.
