SAR chapter to hold its final meeting of 2021

The Richard Henry Lee chapter of the Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution will hold its last meeting of 2021 at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club in Kilmarnock.

The meeting will include thanking the chapter’s outgoing president Rick Frisbie; election of officers to serve in 2022; presentation of a certificate of appreciation to R. Birt Corey for providing an outdoor speaker system and playing “Taps” at the chapter’s grave-marking ceremony on Oct. 3 in Mathews County and remarks from Michael Rhodes who presented the chapter’s wreath at the 246th anniversary of the Battle of Great Bridge in Chesapeake on Dec. 4.

Great Bridge was one of earliest battles in the American Revolution. It was a victory for the Americans and was a stepping stone to sending Virginia’s last royal governor, Lord Dunmore, back to England.
