Ruritan Club launches Christmas Blessing Fund

The Mathews Ruritan Club has launched its 2025 Christmas Blessing Fund campaign, with solicitation letters mailed in early December, according to fund chairman Charles H. “Sonny” Richardson Jr.
Since 1931, the club has sponsored the program which provides assistance for winter heating bills for county residents. Last year, 158 Mathews families were assisted.
Carroll A. “Andy” Jackson, a lifelong resident of Mathews, will serve as the Honorary Chairperson of the 2025 Christmas Blessing Fund. He and his wife Lorraine live in the Glebe area of Mathews. Andy attended and graduated from Thomas Hunter School. He attended Norfolk State College (now Norfolk State University) and worked at Twigg Motor Company for a brief time before going to work at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, where he retired after 26 years. He then worked at the Casey Auto Group (Casey Chevrolet) for 13 years.
