Rosewell ruins preservation plans being finalized

Members of the Rosewell Foundation Board of Directors met recently with Eric Kuchar, project manager for Mesick Cohen Wilson Baker Architects, to finalize plans for the preservation of the Rosewell mansion ruins, according to board member Marilyn Iglesias.

Iglesias said the multi-stage, $300,000 project’s first phase will be an archaeological investigation by the Fairfield Foundation, followed by the careful removal and cleaning of bricks that compose the majority of the rubble in the center of the ruins.

These original bricks will be used as replacements in reconstructing areas of the remaining walls, with the actual construction set to begin in late spring or early summer. In the meantime, details such as Wi-Fi, electricity, security, scaffolding and acquisition of storage facilities will be put into place.
