RONALD KEITH HARRELL

Ronald Keith Harrell, 53, of Hampton, died Nov. 6, 2012 at the Hampton Veterans Hospital.

Ron served his country in the United States Navy assigned to a Fighter Squadron on the USS America. Ron worked with Bionetics Corporation and founded Bayside Environmental Services, Inc. He retired as program manager for the nationwide program for Military Sealift Command with American Systems Corporation.

Ron’s accomplishments and pleasures were many. He loved the outdoors and nature. His passion was fishing, hunting, horses, his dogs, his work and the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band. He was the strongest, most courageous person and his inspiration will live on in the hearts and memories of many.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, David Copacki.

He is survived by his father, Gene Harrell and wife Jean; mother, Martha B. Harrell; daughter, Cecelia Ann Harrell; loving sister, Deborah Eriksen and husband Steve; nephews, Nick and Chris and great-nephew, Elijah who were so special to Ron. Also survived by a dear brother, Frank Harrell and wife Lynn; the love of his life, Aspasia Jones; and stepchildren he loved, Jennifer Harrell and Joshua Copacki, and a host of other family members.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Arthur L. Wolz Jr. were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1860 Hayes Road, Gloucester Point, Va. Viewing was from 10-10:45 on Monday prior to the service at the church. There was a reception after the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment with military honors was at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Cypress Chapel Cemetery, 1891 Cypress Chapel Road, Suffolk, Va.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hampton Veterans Hospital for the support and loving care given to Ron.
