For Janice Jones, owner of Roanes Antiques at The Cottage, 291 Main Street, Mathews, one big bonus of being in business has been “wonderful support from the residents of Mathews and the visitors.”

Her company offers antiques, consignments, new boutique clothing, and jewelry, and is also known locally for handling a number of estate sales.

Jones said The Cottage “boomed right from the start and is continuing to grow.” With the good support, she has been able to add more variety to her stock.

She gave husband David Jones credit for the idea of opening the shop. “He said he knew I would be successful when I did not, so thanks to him, I’m here.”

A native of York County, Jones graduated from Gloucester High School.
