Three new members will be inducted into the Army Aviation Association of America Hall of Fame at a banquet today during the AAAA Army Aviation Warfighting Summit in Nashville, Tennessee. Among the three is Gloucester resident CW5 Anthony “Tony” Rinderer (retired). The two other inductees are LTC James Michael “Mike” Sprayberry and CW5 Brent C. Driggers, also retired from the Army. Rinderer built a distinguished career marked by combat leadership and innovation, according to a release from the association. After enlisting in 1986, he flew AH-1 Cobras in Germany and later joined the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. During the Battle of Mogadishu, he flew more than 17 continuous hours under fire, delivering close air support that helped save American lives, receiving a Silver Star for gallantry in that conflict.
