REV. MICHAEL HUNT MURRAY

A Celebration of Life service for the Rev. Michael Hunt Murray, 96, of Oxford, Maryland, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, in The Church of the Holy Trinity, Oxford. He died Jan. 11, 2019.

 He was born April 21, 1922 in Cambridge, England.

The Rev. Mr. Murray’s military service included: U.S. Naval Aviator, Pensacola 1942, Atlantic Theater 1943 and the Pacific Fleet 1944-1945.

He attended the Groton School in Massachusetts from 1934-1940, Harvard University receiving his B.A. in 1948, Johns Hopkins receiving his Master’s in 1951, University of Paris in 1952, the Episcopal Theological School M.Div. in 1965 and the College of William and Mary in 1982.

Mr. Murray served as Rector of St. Michael and All Angels in Cuernavaca, Mexico, from 1969-1975 and Rector of Ware Episcopal Church, Gloucester, from 1975-1983.

He was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity.

Survivors include his son, Eric Dunmore Murray; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eliane C. Murray; his son, Colin D.A. Murray; his sister, Julia Mackintosh, and his parents, Veronica and Cecil Murray.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to The Church of the Holy Trinity, 502 South Morris Street, Oxford, Md. 21654.
