The Rev. Julian S. Orrell, age 90, of Fishersville, Va., died on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015.

The Rev. Orrell was born Nov. 18, 1924 to Ira and Elsie Orrell of Pittsylvania, Va. The Rev. Orrell had a Bachelor of Arts from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va., a Bachelor of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Va., and a Master of Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, N.C.

He was a pastor of Ivor and Millfield Baptist churches in Southampton for four years, Berryville Baptist in Clarke County for 13 years, Gwynn’s Island Baptist in Mathews for 13 years, Vesuvius Baptist in Rockbridge for four years, North Run Baptist in Richmond for two years and Ridge Baptist, also in Richmond. He had many overseas missions including South Africa, Hong Kong, England and New Zealand.

The Rev. Orrell enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, photography, travel, golf and fishing. 

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor C. Orrell of Fishersville; daughters, Frances Vest and Nancy Leake; son, Ira Thomas Orrell; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. The Rev. Orrell is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Dodd and Glenna Bennett.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, from 7-8 p.m. at Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church, Gwynn, Va. His funeral will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, also at Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church.
