Contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation will be performing paving work in Historic York-town, starting as early as this week, through late spring.
The work will include milling and paving the roadways throughout the downtown area, stretching from the Colonial Parkway to the U.S. Coast Guard Station, including Water Street between the Colonial Parkway overpass to the picnic area entrance, Ballard Street up to the Coast Guard Station, and all other cross streets. These operations are scheduled to begin with Nelson Road, Ballard Street, Cornwallis Road, Lafayette Road, Moore House Road and Moore Lane.
During construction, motorists should expect daytime lane closures with flagging operations, from as early as 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Intermittent temporary daytime closures with detours will also be implemented as needed for Matthews Street from southbound Route 17 to the waterfront and for Alexander Hamilton Boulevard from Route 17.
